Many homeowners are seeing their homes covered now as also many locals are anticipating evacuations is their last and only option. However, portions of the city remain out of the river's way and not in threat of waters barging in. In far off places people are calling City Hall to see if the home of Elvis known as Graceland is in danger of the river flooding waters, but Graceland is several miles away from the river and has no present danger of being invaded. There is also shelter provided at the Raleigh Springs Mall for those needing a place to wait out the rising crest today and attain information regarding further assistance.

BAR-B-Q CONTEST
IT'S ALL FAIR!!!
Memphis, TN
05.10.11
The Memphis in May International Bar-b-Q contest had to move it's event this year due to the rising crest of the Mississippi. Contestants and their set-ups have been forced by the river's crest to go to the old Memphis Fairgrounds Area to hold the events and cook-offs. Presently, contestants are putting up their tents and grills at that location today. It was first considered to have the contest out at Shelby Farms, but many wanted it closer to the inner city and decided to host it at the Fairgrounds area. This area was once used as the Libertyland Theme Park for many years; but closed due to lack of attendance and city funding. Under some new construction plans to use parts of the site utilize development as part of the University of Memphis .
Meanwhile, the grills will be cooking and the contests begins. This event is attended by hundreds of thousands of contestants from all around the globe!!!
