TRUE LIFE SITUATIONS: TAKE OFF TO SLAVE HAVEN (477 hits)

I took a recent visit to this wonderful piece of Memphis history on this MLK Holiday 2012. I was totally taken back to reflect on some great history of the slave trade in Memphis as it being a river town and many of the artifacts collected brought back memories as well. Hosted by a very close friend of mine Ms. Hester Moore I was captivated just as if I was part of the slave trade. The emotional drama was abosolutely compelling. While the tour took me inside of the home of Jacob Burkle old home built in the early 1800's I marveled at the stories Miss Moore gave of how the house was a significant part of the Memphis' own underground railroad.

I don't give tell of the stories, but I was completely part of it's element of in slave spirit. Hester beautifully displayed old hymns and spine chilling stories of how slaves were treated. It was sensual and moving and the visit is one I'll never forget any time soon. I suggest any one living or visiting Memphis in the future to not just go to Graceland, but take a full tour Slave Haven. You'll discover why slaves may have called freedom a haven and learn of the codes which was lead in the home of freedom!

Irma, your are so right, we have to know we have overcome from the sacrifices and lives of those before us. I feel this was a reminder of history so that if we can learn from them struggles in their present society gave us freedom to no longer be subjected in chains of slavery. Now, we have a struggle within our community, our children, in sharing love of our neighbor and violence upon ourselves. We need to follow codes of moral living, so that we flourish with freedom and our generations will remember what else we can overcome now to make their lives reflect a sample of a strong people who overcame obstacles of that could have socially destroyed us.
Okay, I preached a little bit didn't I? Love ya!! LOL!!

THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH BRIDE. (SMILE)

AND, MAY "I" ADD THAT IT WILL BE SO MUCH BETTER IF WE BEGIN TO LOOK AT CHATEL SLAVERY AS AN OBSTICLE WE HAVE OVER COME. (SMILE)
