At least 60 ships have been blocked as harbour pilots took strike demanding their profession be exempted from government plans to add two years to their retirement age. The ships were blocked from port by the all night strike on Monday and Tuesday. This strike paralyzed traffic of large ships and boats from entering the port. The Antwerp, is one of the biggest ports in the world and it was reported their losses is costing a about a million dollars an hour. The government is aiming to annouce a full pension plan later on today, Tuesday, February 14, 2012.
