NC A&T State University Documentary Film Trailer (1315 hits)

Canvas Studios Inc. & Voir Dire Productions Presents “Walls that Bleed: The Story of the Dudley-A&T Student Uprising”, a documentary film that tells the story of the most successful student led uprising in the history of the United States. There will be two exclusive screening event in Stafford, VA on June 17th 5:00pm at The United Faith Christian Ministry with doors opening at 5:00pm and on June 24th at the Cramton Auditorium on the campus of Howard University with doors opening at 4:00pm.

In Greensboro, NC, on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University in 1969, there was a three-day gun battle that involved college students defending their campus against the entire city Police Department and an overwhelming 650 National Guardsmen. It all started because of the mishandling of a High School Student Council election at an all-black high school. Only one life was lost during those three-days, and it has become the oldest cold case in the city’s history. This story is historical in nature; but the struggles and battles for social, political, and racial issues this country faces today are parallel with what happened during the Civil Rights Movement. In 1969, an armed occupation occurred because of a high-school student election at an all-black high school in the south; and 43 years later the country will decided on whether to re-elect the nations first African-American President. Even the participation for today’s “Social Movements” seems to be reminiscent of the ones that occurred over 40 years ago. This documentary shows how one city became the birthplace of the world renowned non-violent “Sit-In” Movement of 1960 to a full fledged armed rebellion nine years later. History has a tendency to repeat itself.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stated that "the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” It took the Filmmaker nearly ten years to bring this film to the screen, and would like to share not only the project but also his journey.
