You’re taking options right now,
That’s because you’ve opted to read
these stories in
Hometown Memphis Lil’ Extra

Which ones-- which be an option?

There’s an option in this first story..
Let’s find out..

29 YEARS TO GO AND
AN OPTION TO SAY
I’M SORRY IS NEVER TO
LATE TO SHOW
Murfreesboro, Tennessee
July 18, 2012

A Memphis native was sentenced to 29 years this week as the judge and jury handed down her term for stabbing her roommate at a Middle Tennessee State University.
The 20 year old S. Madden received her sentencing on Tuesday, July 16, 2012 for the murder two years before. She and her roommate R. Reese got into a fight where it resulted in a death of the promising basketball star. The details of the case involved the discussion of the fight where the two Madden and Reese scuffled because Reese had reported to the campus staff that Madden and another person had been smoking marijuana in the apartment. After the trial the attorney for Madden read a letter of apology in which it stated: “I never meant to hurt anyone, I’m sorry for the heartache your family feels everyday.” I could have saved her if only I had helped her, she wrote “My family gets to hug me, kiss me and hear my voice and your family doesn’t.” I’m sorry I can’t bring her back.” Madden was sentenced to the maximum of 25 years in prison for 2nd degree murder. The judge stated: “Two young lives—one’s lost, one’s scarred forever.”

“Taking options in that story could have possibly saved them both.”

Well, there's other options you can be taking on this second story which
can be mistaken..

DROPPED AND MISSED
A PRELUDE TO AN OPTION
CAN BE DISMISSED
Desoto County, MS
July 17, 2012

A case of a former Memphis homicide detective allegedly accused in the shooting death of his wife has been released and charges dropped in the case. The 72 year B.K. Green faced charges for murder in 2010 of his wife C. Green as she sat at her computer in their Desoto County home. The D.A. said that after reviewing the evidence he decided to drop the charges because of lacking proof could be unveiled which connected Green to any acts of plotting to kill his wife. The D.A. quoted in a local paper “I just go to the point where I didn’t think I could prove all the elements of murder.” The D.A. decided to taking options that the ethical obligation was stronger not to go further with the case. Since he decided the evidence was not strong enough where it validated a jury to decide. The case against Green was dismissed without prejudice against Green. However, this means if new evidence develops in the future the case could be opted to be re-opened.

Turn yet thy optical eye to another story which involves
taking options from a law involving your ride…

THE RED LIGHT CHECKED
LAW NEGLECTED
DOESN’T PROVE THE FAULT
NOT LIKE THEY THOUGHT
Memphis, Tennessee
July 18, 2012

Inspections of vehicles continues but now the law passed to fail those with the “Check Engine” light on can breathe a lot easier because the law has been opted out! The law prohibited passing the emission test if even the emission was passable but the “check engine” light was still on. Congressman Steve Cohen had a situation which caused him to fail the law when his car’s test passed the test, but his check engine caused him to fail passing the inspection. Thus, after a few months of dilemmas of many complaints and costing many vehicle owners overwhelming time and money the new law was dropped. All vehicles will have to pass the emission test, even if the check engine light is on or off.

“It’s an option many felt came far too late after spending hundreds of dollars to find the law was opted to fail as well.”
Can they get their money back? I don’t think that’s an option AT ALL!!

Now here’s another story that has some kind of option to a vote…

VOTE FOR THESE OPTIONS
TO PAY WITH A LITTLE BITE
AND CONSIDER A SALES TAX HIKE
Memphis, Tennessee
July 17, 2012

The Memphis City Council has agreed to place two options which include adding a November ballot to raise local sales tax and advanced a proposed gas tax referendum toward a final vote. The raise hike was proposed by councilman Shea Flinn and supported by Mayor Wharton. The increase the city’s local option sales tax to 2.75 percent up from it’s 2.25 percent. In addition, it is also aimed to keep down housing taxes as well. All this was help the city’s budget to generate the city’s budget. The council voted on the referendum 8 to 2 to put to the option of voters in the November’s election.

That’s leaves the voters taking options to see if that’s what the voters want. Taking options.

Lawd hamercy... 2.25 sales' tax ... In my dreams!

Memphis city government wanted to raise taxes on housing, but are considering this referendum as a option to keep housing taxes down. However, many Memphians don't want any kind of tax hike. It's almost sure something will be taxed, so it's to the polls in November to decide if it's sale tax, gas tax or increase in housing tax. Those are the options.

If they know what I know, they better go for the sales tax... trust me when I say this. There is no way that taxes will not increase in this tough economy and especially when Universal Health Care comes to town. Lawd hamercy!!!
