Was the National Rifle Association (NRA) inspired by the Black Panthers? Yes, according to Adam Winkler, a professor of constitutional law at UCLA School of Law and author of “Gunfight: The Battle Over the Right to Bear Arms in America.” Winkler said over the weekend on NPR’s “On the Media”: “One of the surprising things I discovered in writing ‘Gunfight’ was that when the Black Panthers started carrying their guns around in Oakland, Calif., in the late 1960s, it inspired a new wave of gun control laws (audio). It was these laws that ironically sparked a backlash among rural White conservatives, who were concerned that the government was coming to get their guns next. “The NRA mimicked many of the policy positions of the Black Panthers, who viewed guns not just as a matter of protection for the home, but something you should be able to have out on the street, and also protection against a hostile government that was tyrannical and disrespectful of people’s rights. . . . ” NRA a Copycat Organisation http://www.africanglobe.net/headlines/nra-...

Mr. Winkler's statements on the Black Panthers starting the NRA is ludicrous. The Black Panther Party was founded in the late 1960s. The NRA was founded on November 17, 1871 way before the Black Panther Party got started. Another little known fact is that the NRA was founded by Nazis who fled to the U.S. after Germany was defeated in 1945. The Nazis wanted EVERYONE to have a gun.
Do a Google search of Hitler's name, he LOWERED the age to own guns from 21 to 18 in 1938.

What you did Siebra was excellent. It is call thinking in a straight line. It is also called analytical thinking.
Since the NRA was found before the Black Panther Party then of course the Black Panther Party could not have inspired the NRA.
Babies don’t give birth to their mothers. It is the other way around. Mothers give birth to their babies since the mothers are here before the babies.
It is obvious that David did not do any research before posting this ignorant blog then he compounds his ignorant to continue to defend it, which is utterly stupid. And, it is out of his emotions that he doesn’t want to say and admit that he is wrong. The hardest thing for an ignorant person to do is admit when he is wrong.
Now, turning on you Siebra. Just look at how well you used your brain in this matter, but you won’t use it in the matter of Islam that you are wrong to be following the Arabian people when you know that you are not an Arab woman. I have clearly pointed out the error Elijah made in the early ’30 when he ignorantly accept Islam from the Arab man Fard Muhammad who was a follower of Prophet Mohammed himself and therefore Mr. Fard is not one of us Black Americans. You love Islam by habit and never have you thought that you are wrong because of the racial difference. You are just like David wanting to continue defending a wrong habit and throwing what is right out the window. You must leave Islam and spread to the other Muslims what you are learning from me. Our time has come and I am Black America’s first genuine prophet and my sole purpose is to lead us into sovereignty in a country of our own in my life-time.
We Black Americans are some very ignorant people and rightfully so because we are descendents of slaves and slave are not intelligent people. I am the only intelligent Black American among us and every day I being hoping that I don’t remain the only intelligent Black American among us. Intelligence is wealth and I want Black Americans to become wealthy.

David,
I read the information of the professor and because he is a professor you think that would automatically make him right? Well, no! Professors can be wrong at times.
The facts and how the article was presented make the professor wrong. Don’t you understand that? The date which is an undisputed fact makes the professor wrong to make a blanket statement that the Black Panther Party inspired the NRA. You can argue or change time. Don’t you understand that?
I think the confusion and mis-understanding is how the article is presented and the word inspired.
What I see is that the water’s edge of gun control was moved up or made stricter because of the Black Panther Party openly was towing their guns in the street and supposedly ready to use them against the authorities. And, this raised concerns with the NRA that the new restrictions would impair or infringe on the NRA’s use and enjoyment of their guns.
The Black Panthers were not breaking any laws, but the NRA became concern about the new legal restrictions on guns. That is not being inspiring by the Black Panther Party. You all can not think and reason well.

YES THEY DID GAIN ENTRANCE INTO THE CAPITOL...UBT SINCE THERE IS STILL A NO OPEN CARRY LAW IN CA.
