Should Abraham have been pimping out his wife? Is it OK to marry your sister?
IF ABRAHAM IS YOUR FATHER THEN WHERE WAS HE BORN AT WHY IS THERE NO RECORD OF HIS BIRTH HE JUST POPS UP IN THE DESERT >
I was also thinking “If a man marries his sister, the daughter of either his father or his mother, and they have s*xual relations, it is a disgrace. They must be cut off before the eyes of their people. He has dishonored his sister and will be held responsible.” (NIV Leviticus 20:17). But don’t tell Abraham (Abram) or Sarah (Sari), his wife/sister.
The irony is that there is a specific prohibition against this, as noted in Leviticus 20:17, which was ignored by Abram (Abraham) and Sari (Sarah). Abraham married his half sister, an abomination. He also used this double definition of sister/wife when trying to gain favor. When going into Egypt, Abram told his wife to tell the Egyptians that she was Abram’s sister. She did and was taken to the Pharaoh to be his wife. The Pharaoh found out after taking Sari to be his wife and then banned both Abram and Sari from the land. (Genesis 12:11-20)
This happened again with Abraham and Sarah (note name changes here) dealing with Abimelech, king of Gerar. Abimelech took Sarah to be his wife, but never touched her after a dream from God warning him that Sarah was already married. Abraham again waffles out of this bit of difficulty by explaining again that Sarah is really his sister (half-sister), as well as being his wife.
Abraham explains his offering his wife Sarah to Abimelech. “Besides, she really is my sister, the daughter of my father though not of my mother; and she became my wife.” (Genesis 20:12)
The disturbing aspect about all of this is the waffling, deceit, lying and justification that takes place with God, Genesis, Leviticus, Abram (Abraham), Sari (Sarah), Pharaoh, Abimelech and others in this story of deception, dishonesty and duplicity. And you can’t blame Abimelech or the Pharaoh.
Sadly, this is just like small children making up a game and then changing the rules as they play to justify their role and the advantage of some in the game. It is like bullies making rule changes to their advantage, even though the rules were different earlier in the game.
That is really the only way that an attempt of explanation can be made, by claiming that the rules of marriage and sibling relationship had changed from the time of Abraham and Sarah to the time of the rules and admonitions of Leviticus.
But aren’t basic rules basic rules? Shouldn’t the basic rules have applied to all of early man if this fable is correct? Did God forget about this in his plan for a perfect man made in his image?
THIS IS WHY ITS BETTER TO KNOW THAT ABRAHAM NEVER EXISTED WHICH KILLS ALL ISREALIYES STORY'S /LIES ,,,,
