Alabama State University Graduate has Nationwide Acting Debut on Monday, Feb 1!! (7995 hits)

Alabama State University alumna, local resident, and aspiring actress Curtia Torbert goes from local theatre to national television on Monday (Feb. 1), as she is featured on the national television network TV One and on one of it’s original series.

Monday, Torbert makes her national television acting debut at 8 p.m. (CST) as the ASU graduate portrays Dorey Kitts, a Louisiana teen whose mother is accused of murdering her father on the network's series "Fatal Attraction."

Many are sure to recognize Torbert as she makes her television debut for the many performances she was involved with here in both Prattville (at its community theatre) and in Montgomery on the ASU campus under the direction of Dr. Tommie "Tonea" Stewart, dean of ASU's College of Visual and Performing Arts; and herself, a well known star of Hollywood and television.

Torbert spent lots of time in Tennessee to film her episode for "Fatal Attraction," and also spent several months in Memphis on another acting "gig" with the Tennessee Shakespeare Company, and as a teaching-artist for the company’s production of “Romeo and Juliet.”

"I am ecstatic about my debut and introduction into nationwide television," Torbert said. "I owe so much to so many people at ASU and in Prattville for all the training that I have received and certainly for the wonderful encouragement," she added.
