DEAR GARDENERS: MID SUMMER GARDEN DUTIES (1886 hits)

DEAR GARDENERS
MID-SUMMER GARDEN DUTIES
JULY Issue 2016

Dear Gardeners:

Hello!

This time of year you'll probably notice that some of the floral blooms are completing their season. This means of course, a time for summer garden duties and maintenance. Many gardeners with vegetable gardens are busy with harvests and those with fruit trees may find it's also time to pluck fruits. Mid-summer garden duties also requires clearing away weeds and maybe some additional cultivating and fertilizing. It's hot July and those who reside in the hottest areas may have concerns about watering, and or water shortages. Another garden duty is warding away intruders like those who cherish eating your vegetables. They range from leaf eating bugs, to rabbits! I can only suggest a watchful eye and a visit to your garden center for safe pesticides.

Lawns also suffer with weeds and drought depending on your living location. They have pests too! I'm truly reminded of Mr. Mole... He's a regular in my lawn. My son is in control of my lawn care these days; and if a drop a friendly reminder about something I'm afraid he may put "ME" to charge of it. (Smiles)

While you're out in your adventures of growing things keep in mind the heat, and wearing proper clothing. If you are able to work in your fields of wonder growths do so in the cooler hours of the day. Make sure your tools are up in good to fair condition and do inventory of things needing immediate, or future care.

I'll possibly be writing late in August 2016. A newly retired life triggers one to procrastinate. However, oddly I wake up early as if I'm still going to work. Then I realize I'll be finding other tasks that requires my attention. It's fun though! Look for August letter the last one for this year. Enjoy the summer days!

Tell me....
How does your gardens grow
I'd truly like to know. . . .
Mine grows with lots of love,
