Paul Quinn College announces Nicholas Arbelaez as the head coach of its women’s soccer team. With more than two decades of coaching experience across high school, collegiate, and club levels, Arbelaez brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to player development.

Throughout his career, Arbelaez has dedicated himself to mentoring male and female student-athletes and fostering a legacy of excellence. He has worked to ensure that all of his high school athletes are college-ready and emphasizes the importance of academic achievement alongside athletic success.

"First and foremost, Coach Arbelaez is a winner who understands how important it is to develop our young ladies into leaders with strong work ethics and outstanding characters," said Dr. Michael J. Sorrell, President of Paul Quinn College. “We are excited to usher in this new direction of women’s soccer in the Quinnite Nation.”

His coaching career began at the high school level, serving as Head Coach of the varsity girls’ team at Ontario High School in Ontario, California, earning California South Coach of the Year honors and leading the program to its first playoff appearance in 15 years. He then led both the women’s and men’s varsity soccer programs at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, where he captured three consecutive NIAA State Championships from 2006–2008 and was named Sunset Division Coach of the Year for three straight years.

Arbelaez also held key coaching roles at the collegiate level, serving as Women’s Head Assistant Coach at Mount San Antonio Community College, Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Lake Tahoe Community College, and Assistant Men’s and Women’s Coach at Oregon Tech Institute of Technology.

"Coach Arbelaez’s extensive experience and dedication to student-athlete success align perfectly with our mission. We are confident that he will elevate our women's soccer program to new heights," said Brian Evans, Vice President and Director of Athletics for Paul Quinn College.

In addition to his school-based coaching, Arbelaez has made a lasting impact at the club level. He served as a Technical Trainer and U17 Girls Head Coach for Players North Soccer Club, Director of Coaching and Boys Technical Director for South Tahoe Futbol Club, and Club Coach at Heat Futbol Club in Las Vegas, where he guided multiple boys’ teams to showcase championships and college placements.

Arbelaez also currently serves as Boys Academy Director and Pro Staff Coach at Texas Spurs Soccer Club, where he integrates educational and athletic training to develop players holistically. He is also an Assistant Coach and Lead Fitness and Injury Prevention Coordinator for the Texas Outlaws F.C., a professional arena team in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL).

In his new role at Paul Quinn, Arbelaez will focus on transforming the women's soccer program by emphasizing player development, academic achievement, and community engagement.

"I am honored to lead the women's soccer program at Paul Quinn College and look forward to building a competitive team that exemplifies hard work, resilience, and unity," said Arbelaez.

Arbelaez holds a master’s degree in kinesiology and sports management from Fresno Pacific University and a bachelor’s degree in human services from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, both earned with honors. He also possesses a USSF C License and a United Coaches Director of Coaching Diploma, underscoring his commitment to continuous learning and excellence in coaching.

Arbelaez is also the owner and performance coach of 4Victory Soccer Training, where he has trained hundreds of athletes across age groups and skill levels. Through this platform, he has helped over 175 athletes reach the collegiate level, seven athletes play professionally, and five represent national teams.
