HBCU GO Reveals 2025 HBCU Football Players Of The Year (1105 hits)


LOS ANGELES, CA – December 11, 2025 – Allen Media Group's HBCU GO, the nation’s leading media platform for HBCU sports and culture, has announced the winners of the 2025 HBCU GO Football Player of the Year, honoring the most outstanding offensive and defensive athletes across HBCU football.

This year’s honorees are:
• Offensive Player of the Year: Curtis Allen, Running Back, Virginia Union
• Defensive Player of the Year: Michael Lunz II, Linebacker, South Carolina State

Both athletes earned top recognition from HBCU GO Sports analysts following exceptional seasons marked by consistent, high-impact performances. Their achievements were highlighted during a special HBCU GO roundtable featuring Tolly Carr, Steve Wyche, Nia Symone, James Hadnot, and Lawrencia Moten as they evaluated the top contenders across the HBCU landscape.

Virginia Union’s Curtis Allen stood out as one of the most explosive offensive weapons in college football this year, showcasing speed, power, and leadership that fueled his team’s success. On the defensive side, South Carolina State’s Michael Lunz II anchored the Bulldogs with disciplined, high-IQ playmaking, earning widespread respect for his ability to shift game momentum.
