Good Grades
Like anything else when it comes to getting accepted into a medical program, good grades are often the most important factor taken into consideration by an admissions office. Having good grades, demonstrates you possess maturity, self-discipline, and a willingness to accept and conquer the toughest of challenges. If possible, try to have high grades in classes such as biology, chemistry, and others that will be important to your medical career.
Related Experience
Along with having good grades, schools also like to see that you have any experience that is directly related to the career you wish to pursue. In most cases, this will mean including not only any paid jobs you may have had along the way but also any internships or volunteer activities in which you have participated. If you have this type of experience when applying for medical assistant programs, it shows you are serious about having a career in the medical field. This can also help you understand better what you should expect in the medical field so you can have a more educated decision when considering different medical fields.
Examples of Teamwork
No matter what type of medical career you have, you will be working with many other people as part of a healthcare team. If you can, include some examples of your teamwork skills and experience on your application. Finally, schools are always curious about the many outside interests you have when you are not studying.
