Growing up the child of missionary parents I was fortunate to experience many different cultures and live all around the world. That unique experience has left me with an inherent sense of diplomacy and appreciation for not just the differences, but the commonalities of people across the globe. Let me introduce myself, I am the right mélange of experience, analytical training, and educational background that would be perfect for your firm.
As you will see from my resume, I have passed the New York State Bar Exam and I am pending admission to the Bar. I was a part of the evening program at Brooklyn Law School and worked full time. This gave me the opportunity to cultivate three full years of varied professional legal experience.
At Thacher Proffitt and Wood, I was a paralegal in the Structured Finance department. I was responsible for a variety of tasks including creating exhibits and organizational charts and transfer instruments, term sheets and UCC-1 filings. Previously, at other firms, I assisted in litigations including review and preparation of documents and files in discovery practice, creation of exhibits from expert testimony, drafting correspondence between opposing counsel and the court, and initial drafting of briefs and motions and general research on issues presented. I also worked with the Ombudsman in meetings for a complex dispute resolution involving a longstanding suit against the NYPD. In addition, I expedited the contracts and other documents involved in the financing and brokering for commercial real estate deals and participated in the preparation of a number of securities arbitrations before the NASD/NYSE on behalf of various broker-dealers.
I also have experience in intellectual property including filing patent and copyright applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and conducting trademark and copyright searches for clients on any new marks. I have also handled requests by third parties for use of existing client trademarks and logos, drafted responses to United States Patent and Trademark Office Actions, and managed various marks and files in the docketing system, such as tracking deadlines
Additionally, my references will attest to my reputation as an industrious, hard working individual whether as part of a team or on a self-motivating project. I can work within budget, propose creative and quality solutions to problems and most importantly, efficiently execute them within the deadline. Finally, I am an excellent and comfortable public speaker and I am confident that my theoretical legal training combined with these qualities makes me a very strong candidate.
