Position: Production Scheduler

Location: SW Portland

Compensation: $75,000-$82,000

Job Overview

Our client, a prominent employer in Portland, seeks a Production Scheduler to oversee the planning and scheduling for assigned product lines. This role involves managing inventory levels, coordinating parts flow, supporting inventory needs for service and warranty requests, and streamlining communication on order status across internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production schedules for designated products, considering demand forecasts, capacity limits, material availability, and other business requirements.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure orders are completed on time. Serve as the primary point of contact for work order and material status, adjusting schedules as needed.
  • Work with engineering to resolve BOM issues and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), facilitating inventory updates or rework as necessary.
  • Analyze MRP results, determine purchasing needs, and communicate requirements to procurement.
  • Verify materials before releasing orders; coordinate with purchasing and inform management if materials are not available to support schedules, initiating routing setups as required.
  • Schedule rework orders, ensuring capacity and resources are available.
  • Oversee outsourced activities, ensuring timely management of work orders with purchasing and receiving.
  • Confirm delivery dates based on production schedules and material availability.
  • Create and maintain weekly shipping and backlog reports.
  • Regularly update MRP data, such as lead times, order quantities, lot sizes, and safety stock levels.
  • Actively minimize inventory and work-in-progress (WIP) levels.
  • Resolve work order variances before closing orders.
  • Assist with the daily cycle counting process to support inventory accuracy.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, inventory control, and engineering teams to ensure an efficient production plan.
  • Serve as a liaison with Manufacturing, Order Management, Scheduling, and Purchasing, with occasional coordination with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Business, Manufacturing, or a related field, with at least four years of experience in production planning.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning and MRP systems, with an understanding of production control and planning practices.
  • Proficient verbal, written, and negotiation skills for cross-department collaboration.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to work beyond regular hours when required to meet deadlines and ensure timely issue resolution.
