As a Manager, Manufacturing Operations (Area Leader) at GE Appliances, you will lead a high-performing production area within a value stream, guiding Team Leaders and production associates to deliver exceptional results in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about developing people while driving operational excellence.<h2></h2><h2>Position</h2>Manager, Manufacturing Operations – 2nd shift<h2></h2><h2>Location</h2>USA, Decatur, AL<h2>How You'll Create Possibilities</h2>Lead & Develop Teams<ul><li>Provide daily direction, coaching, and support to Team Leaders and production associates.</li><li>Foster a positive, inclusive culture aligned with company values and HR policies.</li><li>Deliver clear expectations and ongoing feedback to strengthen performance and engagement.</li><li>Manage staffing, including shift coverage, absenteeism planning, and internal postings. </li></ul>Drive Operational Excellence<ul><li>Own area performance metrics across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale.</li><li>Align team goals with broader value stream objectives and communicate progress effectively.</li><li>Oversee daily production start-up, line staffing, and shift handoffs to ensure seamless operations.</li><li>Utilize production boards and performance data to identify issues and drive resolution. </li></ul>Champion Lean & Continuous Improvement<ul><li>Ensure standardized work is deployed, followed, and continuously improved.</li><li>Coach teams on Job Instruction methods, cross-training, and skills development.</li><li>Lead root cause analysis and aggressive problem-solving to eliminate inefficiencies.</li><li>Monitor scrap trends and partner with Quality and Engineering to improve First Pass Yield and reduce Service Call Rates.</li><li>Support cross-functional initiatives to reduce waste and improve both short- and long-term performance. </li></ul>Promote a Strong Safety Culture<ul><li>Lead by example in safety compliance and safe work practices.</li><li>Conduct and close accident investigations within required timelines.</li><li>Drive accountability for PPE compliance, safety contacts, and safe start participation.</li></ul><h2>What You'll Bring to Our Team</h2>Requirements:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related OR 5+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing (i.e., manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, materials, quality, procurement, fulfillment or related functional area)</li><li>Position supports 24/5 manufacturing facilities. Occasional off shift, on call and weekend work is required.</li><li>Experience in manufacturing processes with exposure to lean manufacturing techniques, or equivalent education and experience. </li><li>Six Sigma certification preferred, with strong knowledge of Lean, DMAIC, workout and other change mechanisms.</li><li>Demonstrated accomplishments showing results-driven methodology, analytical methods, schedule achievement, teamwork.</li><li>Demonstrated experience working with individuals at all levels of the organization to achieve operational results and positive employee relations.</li><li>Organizational skills, initiative, and ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.</li><li>Must be competent in computers, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, and ERP systems.</li></ul>Work Environment: <ul><li>Working conditions are normal for both an office and manufacturing environment.</li><li>Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 25 pounds.</li><li>Working in the manufacturing environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, work shoes/boots.</li></ul><h2>Our Culture</h2>Our work is centered on our People and Culture as reflected in our Zero Distance philosophy and we recognize the importance of reaffirming our commitment to inclusion and diversity (I&D).
