Apply now for this exciting opportunity!The Automation Engineer II is responsible for leading or supporting design, installation, and qualification of new manufacturing equipment and improvement/optimization of existing manufacturing equipment. The engineer in this role will also provide technical expertise to resolve manufacturing equipment and automation issues.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Collaborates with other plant functions and external vendors to support design of new manufacturing equipment or modify existing manufacturing equipment in accordance with regulatory, industry, and J&J standards.</li><li>Effectively and safely manages or supports projects to meet business objectives, including quality, financial, EH&S, and performance goals.</li><li>Supports qualification coordination and execution of new and/or improved manufacturing equipment and automation systems.</li><li>Leads or supports quality and safety investigations related to equipment. Achieves timely closure of corrective actions.</li><li>Supports evaluations of new technologies to improve process safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency.</li><li>Prepares oral and written technical reports and project updates</li><li>Coordinates training of personnel on equipment operation and maintenance</li><li>Analyzes maintenance trends in area of responsibility to support asset investment strategy</li><li>Organizes and presents Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) for project scope and funding.</li><li>Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures</li><li>Adheres to J&J environmental and safety policies and guidelines.</li><li>Accountable to the Johnson and Johnson Standards of Leadership (Credo Values, customer/Marketplace Focus, Innovation, Masters complexity, and Organizational and People Development).</li></ul>Experience and Education:Required & Preferred Skills:<ul><li>Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment, OR Advanced Degree (M.S.) with relevant Internship or co-op experience</li><li>Project management experience is preferred. PMP or similar product management credential is a plus.</li><li>Experience developing and maintaining engineering design documentation and drawings is preferred.</li><li>Experience with industrial control systems (PLC/DCS), servomotors, inspection and vision systems, instrumentation, SCADA networks, and/or MES systems is strongly preferred. Willingness to learn industrial control systems is essential. Programming/coding experience is preferred</li><li>Experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other regulated industry is preferred. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and FDA CFR 21 Part 11 is helpful.</li><li>Lean and/or Six Sigma certification is preferred</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Strong problem solving skills</li><li>Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.</li><li>This position will be primarily located in Cornelia, GA but some onsite support in Athens, GA may also be required. 10% travel domestically may be required.</li></ul>Johnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
