Analyst, Academic Operations
FT/PT: Full-Time
General Position Description: Provides support by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to academic operations, student learning and academic success, faculty workload, and academic initiatives. Collaborates with academic and administrative departments to support operational evaluation efforts, facilitate evidence-based decision-making, and contribute to continuous improvement and/or academic processes and procedures.
Salary Range: $56,653 - $63,735 per year
Description of Job Function: 1. Analyzes data related to course scheduling, operational effectiveness, and academic initiatives by collecting, organizing, and verifying accuracy.
2. Conducts descriptive and comparative data analyses to support academic operations activities.
3. Develops summary reports, data briefs, and visualizations that communicate findings clearly and effectively.
4. Provides initial interpretations of data, identifying patterns, anomalies, and implications.
5. Collaborates with academic leadership to clarify data needs and support meaningful use of research results.
6. Collaborates with Analytics and Reporting in the development of dashboards, survey tools, and templates that support continuous improvement.
7. Participates in the design and implementation of research and evaluation of academic operations, processes, and procedures, including methodology and data collection strategies.
8. Ensures accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of all data sources and reports.
9. Stays current with best practices in educational research, assessment, and institutional evaluation.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution, or any equivalent combination of related education, training, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions.
Other Required Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience related to the essential job functions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of assessment, evaluation, and institutional research principles in higher education.
2. Skill in analyzing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data.
3. Skill in Microsoft Excel, statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, or Python), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
4. Ability to analyze and interpret data and to clearly and effectively communicate technical information to individuals at all levels of the organization with varying levels of understanding.
5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management and reporting.
6. Ability to synthesize information and identify key insights from complex data sets.
7. Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment.
8. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and support college-wide initiatives.
General Working Conditions: This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
