Custodial Assistant Supervisor
FT/PT: Full-Time
General Position Description: Responsible for supervision of custodial personnel.
Salary Range: $44,389 - $47,938
Description of Job Function: 1. Establishes areas of responsibility and tasks for all night shift personnel.
2. Ensures personnel and equipment necessary to accomplish assigned tasks are available.
3. Supervises night work crews and actively checks standards of performance in all areas of all modules and initiates corrective action wherever indicated.
4. Assists in training of personnel to ensure manner of performance is maintained at a high professional level.
5. Schedules personnel to assist in other related tasks associated with custodial maintenance.
6. Maintains control of expendable supplies and maintenance of equipment.
7. Maintains time attendance sheets for personnel.
8. Carries out security and safety procedures as established by supervisor including those procedures related to the Florida “Right To Know” Law.
9. Performs all duties as described in the custodian job description which may include moderate lifting and working with chemicals, solvents, oils, and moving objects.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Other Required Qualifications: Progressively responsible custodial experience and supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of custodial services, equipment and maintenance, products, and tools.
2. Ability to prioritize tasks and direct the work of others.
3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
4. Ability to lift objects up to 44 pounds.
General Working Conditions: This job operates in a professional office environment and throughout the College’s worksites and grounds. Within the professional office environment, the employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet and occasionally moderate. While operating outside of the office environment, the employee may be exposed to elements including but not limited to wet/humid weather, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and unpleasant odors. The role may also involve hazards or physical risks, which require comprehending and following basic safety precautions and may require Personal Protection Equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to remaining stationary, moving, ascending/descending, positioning self, reaching, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-100 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
