Q&A With linda ringgold

Why do you want to be my friend?
"I read your profile and see that we think alike on some issues, specifically why so much money is spent on dispensable items and not investments or at least things with profit growth. Its refreshing to read something so wise from someone so young. Hats off to you."

Interviewed by David Brisco 02/14/11

Whats the most difficult challenge you have to face to achieve your ultimate desire
"Going back to school in my very late 40's now that my kids are grown."

Interviewed by Tiffany Hill 02/14/11

What do you like most about yourself?
"I like that am free to be me, at least I like to try most of the time. I think a healthy spirit and mind comes from not holding yourself hostage to what others think you should be or do. As long as I dont hurt others, I am me."

Interviewed by Sonya Farmer 02/14/11

Could someone please tell me what talking white means?
"That perplexes me too. I live my life without the bounderies that white america has tried to place before me, at least I try to. It seems whenever black people live outside the box that white america trys to keep us inside, others think that means "talking white" or "acting white" To me it just is allowing that divide and conquer mentality to thrive and that I wont do or submit to. "

What Impresses You Most, About Someone?
"I am most impressed by intelligence and compassion."

Interviewed by Hugh Gaddy 02/06/11

what do we do to improve our conditions?
"We keep dialogue going that is thought provoking, engaging and explore ideas and thoughts that are progressive. We stay away from gender bashing or blaming and unite for the common struggle. And more to the point, we raise our young to explore more careers than sports or music, I mean does the world need another basketball star or singer?"

Why Are You Concerned About Black America:
It is a profound subject as daily events show that although black american people have made great strides in politics, in economic success, in quality of lifestyles, there is so much more to be done. We are still enslaved in so many ways. In my opinion: brain ensalvement is the utmost struggle.
