Q&A With Mike Harris

Why Is Black History Important to you?
"African/Black history is synonymous with world history and it's important for all ppl to know this. It's important to know the TRUTH because when we know the TRUTH we're less gullible and not easily led by lies, deception & falsehood. One of our biggest problems is we've been systematically deprived of African/world history which is playing a central role in why we're divided when life would be much better for us if we were united! "United we stand, divided we fall.""

About   (request update)
I have a unique knowledge and understanding on how diet [U r what u eat] plays a central role in our values, how WE perceive information, how we view reality and ultimately leads to what we know as "culture."
Current Whereabouts:
Networking for positive, constructive change.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
Thirty-five years ago I tried my hand at writing songs, playing guitar and singing. I was primarily on a mission to get into the music industry as a "songwriter/lyricist" based on the vast number of songs & lyrics I had written. However, at that time, in order to get exposure I performed my personal songs (singing & playing guitar) on stage at several talent night venues throughout L.A. County. Though I met many AA celebs during my journey playing at different talent night venues at clubs & restaurants I never ended up at the right place at the right time. In other words, the AA celebs that I did meet were not connected to the music industry. In late 1982 I did some work in the studio via three of my songs with Barbara Mitchell (Angela Winbush's sister) whom was the lead singer of the group formerly known as "High Energy," & contracted with Motown. Berry Gordy, according to Barbara, advised her that more polishing needed to be done. Unfortunately, that project was put on the shelf and shortly thereafter "High Energy's" contract with Motown was dissolved & not renewed. Not long after the foregoing Barbara and I payed George Tobin (produced Natalie Cole 1st album) a visit at his studio in North Hollywood. After Barbara introduced me as a "songwriter/lyricist" & noting that I had some good material George suggested that we run down to a studio in Santa Monica where Smokey Robinson was producing his nephew's first album. This particular day in Feb. 1983 happened to be Smokey's b-day, (I will refrain from describing what the icing on the cake was carved out to be [LOL] however to this day I've never seen one like it, interesting). I was also introduced to Smokey's sister-in-laws being that it was a small family pre b-day party held in the studio. Smokey explained to me that he wanted to hear 3 of my best songs and when I recorded them with the guitar (to give an accent to the melody), give them to Barbara and she would get them to him. Barbara was my liaison between Smokey and was connected to Berry Gordy as well (to be cont.)

My BlackInAmerica.com Profile
Why Are You Concerned About Black America:
Because I've been treated unfairly, unjustly and discriminated against, based solely on "skin color," by the same diabolical system that the rest of us have been victimized by... Having said that, WE as a people, need to network to establish an agenda that will lay out a solid resourceful foundation for our children's future. Pursuant to the significant number of ppl, representing a different set of values, migrating here today and systemically being allowed to attain the "dream" with less than a 20 year history, clearly says that it's imperative that WE stand up and lead ourselves as opposed to continuing to allow ourselves to be led by forces that have no compassion for our VERTICAL needs, based on our unique legacy, as a people! In my view, the majority of those coming here (legally of illegally) have absolutely no compassion, concern or consideration for our ancestors whom were victimized by physical & psychological torture, terror and death, which was the uncivilized strategy used to coerce them into committing the FREE LABOR that the very foundation of the US rests on to this day. WE as a people, must never forget the inhumane treatment our ancestors were subjected to, because they're a direct reflection of why we're here to this day.

Jen I'm not disagreeing with you on that note. However, it's wrong for corporations and government agencies to hire and train immigrants and not hire ppl whose ancestors played a significant role in making the US what it is, to this day. There's something 'morally wrong' with that picture.

Have you ever imagined how different the world would be if animal, alcohol & pharmaceutical drug consumption was prohibited? In other words, have you ever imagined a VEGAN world? Think about it....
