About   (request update)
My experience in health, fitness, and exercise science spans 15 enjoyable years. I hold a BS in Kinesiology, an MS in Movement Sciences with a concentration in Applied Exercise Physiology, and a PhD in Kinesiology, Nutrition and Rehabilitation with concentrations in Integrative Vascular Biology and Exercise Physiology. I am also a Certified and Licensed Clinical Massage Therapist, an ACSM Certified Health Fitness Specialist, and an AFAA Certified Group Exercise Instructor. In addition, I am certified in Hydro-Tone, which is a form of water resistance therapy.

As a research scientist, my interests are focused on specific mechanisms whereby exercise training and proper nutrition stave off cardiovascular disease and related risk factors including obesity, hypertension, and type II diabetes mellitus. I am also interested in potential mechanisms by which a coupling of exercise and massage therapy can beneficially impact cardiovascular health, specifically the vascular system.
Current Whereabouts:
Research Scientist, Author, Educator and Relentless Advocate of Lifestyle Medicine in the Prevention and Treatment of Obesity and Obesity-Related Diseases.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
I am currently funded on a grant from the Massage Therapy Foundation for a project entitled the "Efficacy of Massage Therapy in Attenuating Vascular Dysfunction after Exertion-Induced Muscle Injury”. In the longer term, I seek to initiate community-based prevention and intervention research with programs that provide exercise prescription and programming as well as lifestyle, nutrition, and weight management counseling to those who otherwise would not have access to such services.
