Femi Folami-Browne earned her first degree in Communications from The University of Lagos, Nigeria, West Africa where she resided for eight years. During her sojourn in Nigeria, she became the managing director of an import/export firm, Images Enterprises; free-lance writer; primary school teacher and the Public Information Officer for the Nigerian International Secretariat during the 2nd World Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC).

Upon her return to America, she volunteered with the Haitian Task Force as writer for Potparol a community newsletter and traveled as a volunteer to Haiti with The Center for Family and Child Enrichment. She later served The United Negro College Fund as South Florida’s Telethon Director. She was privileged to work as a copywriter for Knight-Ridder’s Viewdata Corporation of America, a precursor to today’s internet technology. This spawned her interest in interactive technology. Almost 20 years later, she was awarded a Professional Certificate of E-Gov Advising and Consulting by Florida International University in 2003 and today advises small businesses on the advantages of being wired, in addition to counseling and mentoring distance learners.

For her community work in diversity training, Femi was selected and awarded “Fellow” status by the University of Miami/Kellogg Foundation’s Common Ground Program and completed two years of intensive training in community building and mentoring. From 1993 until 1995, she served the 17th District, Florida as a Congressional Aide to retired Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek providing advocacy and constituent support services to the concerns of the 17th District. She focused on war veterans, minority elderly and African affairs. Femi was selected as Florida delegate to the 2000 Summit on Africa convened by President William Jefferson Clinton. She was later selected to accompany former Miami-Dade County Mayor, Alex Penelas on a trade mission to South Africa.

Femi has received numerous honors in recognition of developing innovative programming for minority communities. She was founding member of several organizations including Operation United Front an ad-hoc social service agency for the families of servicemen who were in the military during Operation Desert Storm. She was the first manager and primary grant-writer for Opa-Locka Senior Focal Point, a one-stop service center for minority elderly. She was awarded the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Social Work Outstanding Community Service Award and was later the recipient of a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition by Charles Rangel, Member of Congress, and N.Y. for her work with Dade County Vietnam-era Veterans. Among her written and video works is a 30 minute documentary-titled “Economics and Aging- A Profile of America's Black Elderly”. She wrote and produced the remarkable documentary that had the honor of having its premier being held at the Congressional Black Caucus, Washington. D.C. for their Aging Braintrust. As part of Metro-Miami Action Plan, she formed a cooperative of small businesses and developed Urbanfolkworks- a business incubator that was funded by South Florida Workforce. Currently, academic advisor, life coach and mentor; freelance consultant, grant-writer, business developer and certified life-long learner, she is available to assist on any projects related to entrepreneurship and social enterprise in urban, minority communities.
