My BlackInAmerica.com Profile
Why Are You Concerned About Black America:
African-Americans are more likely to develop diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney failure and other similar health issues. These health issues are creating a "Black Health Crisis" that is reaching epidemic levels. In fact, almost 1 out of every 2 people knows someone who is diabetic! I am an African-American who was fortunate to survive a life-threatening diabetic coma. But the doctors were shocked when I came out of the coma, and they were even more shocked when I weaned myself off the insulin, Coumadin, Lipitor and other drugs. I was so happy that my health improved such that the doctors no longer needed to amputate my legs. When I shared my story with other African-Americans in a diabetic support group, they were shocked to find out that someone could actually beat this disease and get off all the diabetic drugs. The same thing occurred when I shared my story with several black churches. That led me to write the book "Death to Diabetes". The good news is that the book is selling well. The bad news is that more than 91% of my readers are Caucasian -- I need to get this story to more African-Americans. They need to know that they do not have to suffer with amputation, blindness, kidney dialysis, heart attack or stroke -- they need to know there is Hope. All of these complications are preventable with the proper nutrition, exercise, and spiritual health. The key to beating diabetes and these other health issues is Knowledge. Knowledge is Power.
