Who's That Girl (405 hits)

When a woman maintains her grace, everything is possible. ~Yogi Bhajan

In Michelle Obama's speech to over 4,500 supporters and spectators in St. Paul, MN, she said, "Barack Obama gets it." Well he is not alone, because to me, Michelle Obama gets it too.
Over the past month I was inspired to watch, listen and read anything I came across pertaining to Michelle. From speeches to television appearances to photo opps, I was a Googling fanatic. In virtually all of the candid moments, her presence commanded a respect and confidence that surpassed many of her predecessors. Michelle is a successful, genuine and extremely passionate woman. On every occasion, this brilliantly coiffed, statuesque, future first lady landed within earshot, she proudly mentions that she is a daughter from a working class family. She and her brother Craig were taught solid values with a sense of pride and hunger for excellence. Then she'll tell you that she is a mom whose daughters are her world. She aspires to give them, as well as other children, a bright future with endless opportunities - a positive moral backdrop to guide them through life. Finally she'll tell you that she is a wife that adores, supports and believes in her husband. She'll remind us of how proud she is and not just because he's "cute," but because of his character and integrity.
Michelle is the women with such self-assurance that she made the choice to leave a high powered, six-figure salaried executive position to go across this country to campaign with her husband. That alone speaks to her true character. She has been a tremendous asset to his campaign. I love her graceful, realistic approach to solutions and media scrutiny - all whiling sporting a pair of Jimmy Choo's coupled with a fashion forward ready to wear classic. Forgive me but I must entertain my minor obsession with the esthetics. I am so appreciative of her meticulous presentation from a smart accessory selection to her choice of color palette. I am sure Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis is smiling down on Mrs. Michelle Robinson Obama.
At the end of the day, after tucking her little darlings into bed and leaving them with a kiss good night, this girl from the Southside of Chicago has elevated the standard and by her display of balance, intelligence and grace she is changing the paradigm for women of all ages.
