The Tears of Jesse Jackson (248 hits)

I have heard many cynical comments about the sight of Jesse crying last week. Many see him as jealous, immoral, and a player hater against Barack. But we should always remember that Jesse fought to change the rules of how delegates were allocated back in the 1980s. Hillary won more big states than Barack in the primaries. If delegates were still handed out by a winner take all system like the GOP, Hillary would be the nominee. JESSE FOUGHT TO CHANGE THE RULES! Without Jesse, Barack would not have won the election. Dont forget the bridges that brought us over.

I think that Jesse played a major part in getting us to this point, but it's time for him to let new leadership step up, or find a new way to make his mark. He made some serious accomplishments in the 80s, and is one of the main reasons so many large corporations are focused on "diversity" today. But I don't think his '84 platform was right for the time. I'd like to see him using his influence to change the attitudes of Black youth, as opposed to finding opportunities to leverage media attention.

Were they tears of joy or tears of repentence? I don't play the role of being judgemental, but they almost looked as if he forced them from his eyes! Nonetheless, we move forward. If Barack can get on national TV and tell Bush to forgive and forget, then we must do just that...and move this country (and the world) forward. I know that Barack is not one who plays the "color" game, but if we as a whole don't dive in and do something about our youth, then we'll have a lost generation right in out own back yard! Here in the Cleveland area, we have the highest rate of crime/death with our youth in the NATION. Hopelessness and despair is everywhere. We better prioritize for OUR children, or we'll start sinking deeper than what we expected. We need CHANGE!
