I found this post on
http://knowitallnation.blogspot.com . It stated, "I wonder if she agreed to do the 10PM mock lynching at the bonfire. There should be an 11th Commandment that deals with sacrilegious ignorance such as this." The image that accompanied the post is of a young Black girl smiling while surrounded by white boys wearing Klan apparel.
The image speaks to the consequences of not teaching our children Black history. Black history in more than dates and numbers, it is consciousness and awareness of the time and what must be done, it is the spring board for advancement and the foundation which a people build their future on.
To rob a people of their history or distort their history is to distort their consciousness, awareness, perception of reality. It is to cripple their ability to handle situations and conditions that come up. It causes them to be inept to the time and what must be done in accord with the time. Worst, if they don't learn the lessons of history, they will be in peril of repeating the mistakes or injustices of the past, and that is if they are fortunate enough get another chance at righting the wrongs.
WE MUST TEACH OUR CHILDREN BLACK HISTORY. KNOWLEDGE OF SELF COMES FIRST!!!
