I am really excited about tomorrow night's discussion with Bro. Abel Muhammad and other guests. As far as I know I am one of the few Hispanics/Latino who blog regularly on an African-American site. It is a privilege to have been invited by brother Steven, a member of the Nation of Islam whose knowledge and opinion I value.
As well it is a privilege to share with the audience..my 40 years of research, knowledge and perspective culled from ethnographies I have done around the world and to be amongst historians who bring truth to our journey in the new Americas as the original people.
Amongst the topics to be discussed will be labels:
African-American, Black, Afro-Cuban and why we should or should not we wear these labels. (I know we are all busy and the holidays are here.) Obama's appointment of a geneticist to his Cabinet is right up my alley. Exactly where I want him to be. Suppose tomorrow or sooner than you think the script was flipped? and the dominant culture becomes the Original people..ie. (Black people) for those not yet in tune..what would your role be, what would you call yourselves? Who designed the hyphenated label?
I know who I am--we want you to have knowledge, true and correct knowledge
Hope you tune in, check Bro. Steven Muhammad's page for the info or upcoming events on the header page of BWC and BIA, that features Bro.Abel Muhammad.
Peace
