Barack is now President-elect. The world has welcomed his message and his push for change. Blacks, in particular have been waiting for a return to Blackness - the true sense of wholeness, creativity, and love that was very evident in the 1960s and 1970s.
And so it returns: The revolution of a state of consciouness that Obama himself has used in his claim to America's highest post. Despite the is he Black enoughs and the constant chatter about where he is from, and by whom, Obama has proved to us that he is indebted to his lineage as a man of color/ethnicity, and committed to the thoughts, ideas, and struggles of African Americans. Look at what the brother accomplished on the South side of Chicago! How "Black" can a movement be??
DC is gearing up to be changed and elevated by more Black thought and consciousness. With already sixty percent of its population Black/African American, it will experience more as single Black women and men enter its ranks and network to make sure we are there too as part of its changing culture.
This will be interesting: white America and its hands on politics and the social life with money, and a professional and struggling Black people in DC to mix, mingle, and compete. The sharing of cultures will also take effect stronger as we all bring our collective knowledge and experiences to the nation's capitol.
DC will be interesting, and a testing ground. How will Black and Whites continue to get along?? Well, DC will be the melting pot that will have to show the rest of us.
Blacks, we will be us. We will sing, dance, rap, spit spoken word, play the blues, and love ourselves and our people. The presence of the Obama family will increase this and provide more opportunities for this as they enter the White house.
Will you be there?
Will you engage in this cultural movement in the depths of politics?
Will you go there to network?
Black is back in vogue as they are saying. Little do they know, we are a race of people who has always relied upon our leaders and the way we live life.
