Christmas has come and is soon going. It has been an incredible year in American history, and no doubt it has caused some stress. We were wondering what direction this country was going to take and who would be at the helm. Many of us actually made tentative plans to leave, if we had to face another four years of Bush clones.
God in his mercy has given us a reprieve. Millions are in agreement that Mr.Obama has an anointing. A man whose destiny we are watching unfolding before eyes. We don't want to say it, but in our hearts we are putting our hopes and dreams in his hands. Believing that he has a plan, to lift us--and give us a springboard from whence to leap to great heights.
The Next focused day in our lives in New Year's Day. We plan for new beginnings. We say "starting next year"--then we run a motley list of goals. They run the gamut from dieting, to exercising to cease smoking. Less shopping, more saving, and on goes the list.
Maybe we should focus on one major goal, a well thought out goal that in meeting our own desire rids us of negative ones along the way. Any one of the goals I mentioned are major goals in and of themselves. If we pile the plate too high we will never be able to digest the the final effects.
Change is usually an uncomfortable, action. The comfort of the same old way of doing things, no matter how miserable we may be, is its known quantity. Whether it is for the country as a whole or for us individually. Why not make the New Year's resolution a quarterly goal? If we break up our goals into four trimesters, they become more manageable, it helps us remember what the goals were and if we haven't met our own benchmark, we can scrap what's not working and try the next set of resolutions.
If at the end of 2009 we can look back and measure results, by the accomplishment of let's say four out of 8 or even 12 accomplishments..this would be a self-esteem booster. Throughout the year even one accomplishment every three months will give us a sense of confidence and some measure of control over those areas of our lives that need fine tuning.
There is no doubt that Mr. Obama has a massive plan to overhaul this nation, imagine if we could make 16 major improvements in our lives over the next four or even eight years. The same difficulty he will face in running the country -having to deal with strong wills and hidden agendas, is similar to our own lives having to deal with our jobs, our loved ones , our neighborhoods, transportation and shortage of money . All stressors.
If we start out with a plan before The New Year's, I surmise that our effort to overcome our personal detractors, or situations or health challenges, can be summed up in three simple but powerful words, YES WE CAN!
