POPULAR TRIAL VERDICT: GUILTY!
After about two weeks of jury selections and trial dates one of Memphis' most popular trials "The Jeffrey Scott Trial" comes to an end. Jeffrey Scott was found GUILTY of 2nd degree murder of his wife, Ashley in court on January 19, 2009. The jury met for approximately 6 hours before handing out the verdict of guilty of 2nd degree murder. This case gain popularity because the wife of Jeffrey Scott, Ashley was a favorite school teacher among her students. Mrs. Scott taught at Bolton High School . She was badly beaten by her husband on Thanksgiving Day 2006 and later died at a local Memphis hospital from bruises and trauma. The couple had been drinking when fighting started over a text of an e-mail message. The family of Ashley Scott said they have found some closure and relief; but her sister was quoted as saying: "Jeffrey deserves the right of his life WITHOUT a SINGLE freedom!..." Sentencing for Jeffrey Scott will be on Feburary 19, 2009 he will be sentenced for a term of 15 to 25 years in prison.
We discover that the justice system can be hard and cruel, but in many cases it may or may not always be fair. This story ends with more than just one loss of life; it has also affected lives of others.
