I just revisited an excerpt from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s book "Stride Toward Freedom". In this book, Dr. King wrote:
"It has always been the responsibility of the church to broaden hoizons, challenge the status quo, and break the mores when necessary. The task of conquering segregation is an inescapable MUST confronting the church today" (A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., p. 478).
I submit to you that even though American society is integrated physically, it continues to be segregated mentally. How does one explain the difference of opinion between Blacks and Whites regarding the Obama Affect. More Blacks than Whites reportedly feel the Obama presidency will have a positive impact on the society at large.
What do you think? I look forward to reading your responses.
