i've found a great site that promotes events and resources for families dealing with autism (www.autismspeaks.org). it also allows those of us who can to donate some of hours to find a source to this epidemic.
i work in special ed. in elementary schools and i've seen an increase in the autism diagnosis not only with boys, but girls as well.
until we can slow down this epidemic, we can at least help to educate the public on the social behaviors of autism and to be more sympathetic to these behaviors.
in working with people with autism, i've come to realize that who's to say that our behaviors are so much more better than their behaviors. i feel the autism behavior at times is more real and definitely straight-forward.
