WHAT ARE YOU DOING THE NEXT 38 NIGHTS!!!!!!!? (873 hits)

It is such a pleasure to inform you all of this wonderful event! I participated in this event last year and I am a much better African-American because of it.

We often speak about how we want to get more involved with improving our communities. Well, I learned many skills after meeting some absolutely great authors, community leaders, and church leaders. I discovered sooo much about publishing and promotions and etc. and I have made some lasting friendships!! amen? Amen!

I invite you to open your hearts and minds by participating in this event. You don't have to leave your home and you can smile proudly the rest of the year with the information you will take with you.

You don't have to have a book completed or even started, but you will love the opportunity to meet some fantastic folks in the publishing industry. Shucks, you might even get to know me even better! amen? Amen!

Here's everything you need to know to turn your life around and we certainly have a rejuvenated spirit to do just that in the most historical black history online literary celebration....

2nd Annual Black History Internet Literary Affair
“Give the Gift of Knowledge”
January 25-March 7, 2009
Totally Online at the Black Authors Network Radio Show
Event Website: http://profilesinblack.blogspot.com

Please join us for 42 nights of fun, wisdom, fellowship, and book previews, as well as author interviews. EDC Creations and the Sankofa Literary Society will host the annual Black History Month Internet Book Fair to bring together authors, community leaders, and concerned citizens. You can participate nightly from the comforts of your home!

Our theme is “Give the Gift of Knowledge.” We seek to bring together our modern day Griots to share with us the history of our people and to lead us into the future. Are you ready? Do you want to help us prepare an archive of African American legacies for your children? This is an open community forum for all races and cultures!

The Griots’ of the past carried cultural knowledge and identity for the people.
The griot legacy stretches back for hundreds, and in some cases, thousands of years. The griot is a relater of history – keeping track of the history and developments of his people over time. The griot is also guardian of the knowledge of his people’s ancestry, or genealogy. This history may never be written down so the griot is crucial to keeping the records of the past. Griots are also orators, lyricists and musicians and they train to excel in all three art forms. But the griot is also a counselor – giving advice and spiritual guidance to his people. This is a Community Event-We Need You!
We seek storytellers, librarians, historians, teachers, authors, motivational speakers, parents, our elders and community leaders to share with us their Gifts of Knowledge. We as a people have come a long way in the last 42 years, let’s celebrate together. Join us on the radio and our community blog for 42 nights of sheer literary bliss!

Suggestion - Join in the fun by gathering 10 friends, then visit our website and add comments to the book spotlights, author interviews, and community discussions: http://profilesinblack.blogspot.com. If you fall short one friend, let me know....!!!:)
