Just happened to look at the bottom of the front page of this network, Black Women Connect----and someone took the initiative to posit a definition--and it is right on point --one that needs to permeate the whole infracstructure of American business, politics and non -profs.
Now all Women of African ancestry have a clearly defined identity to model after. I have been fortunate in coming across the "Coalition of 100 Black Women" out of New York City co-founded by Jewell Jackson-McCabe in the 1970's.
It was that organization that supported my view of the women who belonged to my mother's clubs back in the day. These beautiful ,together, well mannered, financially secure women of color in all hues, shared ONE solid commitment.
Black women in America are a force to be reckoned with sine qua non. People talk a lot of stuff..but I have witnessed the plethora of millionaires, intellectuals, artists, and free spirits that make up "the American Black Women" and I believe it is high time this information got out beyond the borders of America. Now with The FIRST LADY Michelle Obama holding the highest profile of any woman of color in RECENT history--like the last 500 years or so--use this moment to capture the attention of the world so that sisters in the Diaspora--can dream and achieve.
It is our time--we have the Ultimate role model!! the First Lady.
