THIS RECESSION IS A REALITY CHECK -- PEOPLE BEWARE!!! (213 hits)

Good Evening, Everyone:

I wish all of you a most blessed Easter Holiday. I'm really looking forward to it because it's important to focus on the more spiritual aspects of life. If anyone tells you GOD does not exist, bless them and get out of their way, because they are on a collision course with disaster.

Unfortunately, it's times like these in which the absolute worst aspects of human nature has a tendency to surface. People who have little or no spiritual grounding will do anything to perpetuate their own survival at anyone's cost. By all means be careful and pay close attention to your dreams and intuition. It may be GOD trying to WARN YOU.

Tuesday night, I attended a networking function in Los Angeles, met some people and handed out some business cards. The night before, I had a dream in which I was surrounded by unscrupulous people. I'm usually a very careful, professional person who believes in following established procedures and protocols whenever necessary.

I received two telephone calls earlier today. One from a person that I did not recall meeting at this function and another from a person that I did meet. They wanted me to come to their office but refused to send an "email confirmation with their address". In this day and age, anyone who is a "reputable" business person uses the Internet to confirm meetings and appointments. It makes no sense to have "a company website" and not wanting to contact anyone via the Internet. Why would I go see total strangers and not have some way to document my whereabouts? I may be a lot of things, but STUPID IS NOT ONE OF THEM!!! I made it perfectly clear that unless I receive an email confirmation before the close of business today, I was not going anywhere!

To be perfectly frank, I have to wonder how much, if any, effort was made by the promoters of this event "to validate the credentials" of some of the people who claimed to represent "legitimate" businesses. People attend these events believing that they are actually meeting "reputable" professionals and, in fact, they may be entertaining "con artists" who are anything but "legitimate". It's easy enough to refer a person to a website of a legitimate business but does that person actually represent that company? Anyone can have "fake business cards" printed up and hand them out. It pays to be careful. Legitimate business people will understand.

I also recommend checking with the Better Business Bureau, especially in the city or state in which the business, in question, operates. Local branches of the Chamber of Commerce and District Attorney's office are good places, too. The Secretary of State within each State usually has some oversight of businesses that are required to operate with licenses. If someone is selling something, especially financial products, make sure they'll licensed to do so in your State. If not, you may be placing yourself in jeopardy. Too many people have been scammed out here in California and it pays to do your homework!

Has anyone else on this site had similar experiences? Please let's share them to help one another stay safe.

Much Love,

Gail Cooper

Hello, Mozell:

They were attempting to pull the "old bait & switch" routine. Initially they wanted people to believe they were "legitimate" but in "reality" they weren't. They were very interested in my accounting background and I doubt if they were really willing to fairly compensate me for my skills. Con artists are smart enough not to leave "electronic" or "paper" trails. Mozell, I'm all business and I've seen too much. I don't entertain "shady operators" because they will only "burn you" in the end. Believe me, people like this don't ever tell the truth about anything!!!
