This is not your typical Easter Message...it may be a typical "Good Friday" message. Yeah, Jesus had some "haters." But that didn't keep him down.
Over the last few months I’ve been “preaching” my message about joint ventures, partnerships and working together from my new book, SYNERGY ENERGY. As a literary publicist, I know when a book is birthed – there is a season of “testing” that goes on. The author is tested on the message of the book.
The author enters a season that seems like “hazing” and if you pass, you enter the fraternity or sorority. Well, I’ve been tested, tried and been through the fire. I have also been disappointed and learned how to let water roll of my back – because I know this is a message that will fix a lot of ills in our society- especially in the African American culture.
So, what have I learn after birthing Synergy Energy:
1. People don’t know how to be supportive of one another. They may have a good intention to do so but really don’t know what to do. I’ve learned that if it’s not spelled out – people won’t bother. So, if you want someone to pass along an email – tell them. If you want them to subscribe to your blog – tell them. If you want them to “retweet” – tell them. Most folks don’t know how to really be helpful unless they are told and/or rewarded.
2. Don’t assume that because someone says they are a Christian that they will be honest. I know, I know. How naive, right? Well, I have learned this over and over again – people are people and basic instincts of “greed” over take most. When I gave away information and asked for a certain level of commitment back, I had no idea I would be scammed. What an eye opener. I’ve had “Christians” actually steal Christian books. And there no synergy in that! Help us, Lord!
3. And finally, I learned that those who are NOT with you are against you. If a person is not in your corner, helping you or supporting you where they can – then they are basically a person that is against you. Their energy is negative and sometimes even cruel. “Haters” is what the street term is. Got some haters? Join the club. Hard lessons. But you get the picture.
The Solution:
I don’t know if it is because economically people are going through tough times – but a lot of folks seem desperate. They seem in want to scam, swindle and steal. If not physically, but spiritually. One thing I know that will help people come out of their pits and ruts: it’s to help one another. To care. To not be so “me” focused.
When a person takes their mind off themselves, and focuses on being a blessing – they will open the channel for blessings to come to them.
Right now, Synergy Energy is the message I preach everywhere. Cooperation is better than competition! No matter how others may act like, I will not act crazy because the economy is a wreck.
Team work makes the dream work – so let the folks with real heart and soul – step up and really make a change. What you make happen for others, God will make happen for you. That’s the truth and I’m sticking to it.
