Black women dying of breast cancer at high rate, earlier screening suggested (172 hits)

Although black women get breast cancer at a lower rate than white women bey die at a higher rate than black women.

While cancer screening is very important a new study suggest that black women should get screened at a much earlier age than white women.

I can attest to this finding...having worked with minorities in emergency settings...I have seen health care workers not being forth coming with information as they are with whites seeking healthcare. I don't really understand why this happens, but I would suggest to our people to be assertive in their health care by seeking out information.

Also even when information is given, people don't follow up like they should...
Examples Of Important Health Disparities
"The disproportionate burden may be because many African-American women have not received regular mammograms...or follow-up treatment. Early detection is the best opportunity to reduce deaths; therefore, women at risk must make every effort to receive mammograms and Pap smears on a regular basis so breast and cervical cancer can be detected and treated."
