CALLING ALL GARDENERS...HOW ARE THINGS GROWING? (525 hits)

The flowers shown in the photograph are a hybird of Vinca> These grow well around small beds or in pots mixed with others plants.

It's been a couple of months since I've checked on your gardens. How are things looking? I have blooms already! My potted petunias are beautiful. I also have some moss in a tray that's starting to sprout out --and so the hot weather will make them start blooming too! Roses are out and soon to fade, those who may find them florishing right now. My roses were big this year and all my bushes put out a lot. I have an American Red Rose and I have beautiful pink summer rose that did better than last year. While out and about in the yard today, I was trimming and pruning trees. It's a tough job, but the view you get when you're finished is breathtaking. For houseplanters.....you'll need to re-pot soon if you haven't done so in at least a year or so. Potted plants can become root bound just in a little time, and that can effect their healthy growth periods. If you have your houseplants in a good spot in your home, make sure you turn them from time to time so they can get equal lighting. Washing dull windows can also improve the lighting in a room. Keep trying if you're a beginner; soon enough your plants will bring you hours of conversation, --"you'll talk to them like I do".... and play them a fine heap of classical music..Mozart, Beethoven! Hayden! Listen to those strings!

For the vegetable gardener you should have cabbage, turnip or mustard greens, tomato plants sprouting like crazy; but tell me how are things growing will you? I need an update on a vegetable garden too! Let me hear from you as well. Organic gardeners what's going on?

Here's a suggestion:
Feedings: You can use any off-brand or name brand plant food. Follow package directions. Plant foods work on indoor and outdoor plants.
Here's looking at your "Green Thumb!"

Irma, so glad to hear your report. Fresh mustard greens and fresh lettuce sounds like a vegetarian's dream dish. True fact too, honeysuckle just keep growing....Anyone bold enough to have will find out it's growing power. Thou sweet it has it pros and cons. You can grow that houseplant, then you'll tell me about how you did it! Lots of caring and love to you Irma.

MIISRAEL, glad you asked, because of that true statement about we are at the mercy of the weather when we become farmers(gardners).

Last year I lost my tender young plants due to an over night freeze. This year, I lost them due to a one day over 100 degree heat.

But, all is good as I can just go to the nearest nursery and replace these plants that I started from seeds.

And, by the way, I will soon get up nerves to try and raise that house plant you have faith that those like me can grow(smile)

Oh, by the way, in about a week I will be eating some young mixed lettuce and mustard greens. We started eating our strawberrys weeks ago.

I have honeysuckle and love eating its honey also. I makes up for the fact that you can not control this plant nor distroy it short of trying to blow it up to get rid of it if you do not want it to grow in your yard once it get established.(smile)
