Video: Obama discusses race on Sunday Morning talk shows. (194 hits)

President Obama visited many news outlets to discuss everything BUT racism and wound up dicussing it on almost every one of these shows. President Obama danced his way around this question several times on Sunday.

While many may want him to speak on the issue so that the country can have a real discussion on race there are those that are waiting to pounce claiming that the President is playing the race card.

It's a shame that a president is expected to talk about life or death situations like war and healthcare but not about race?

Check out his responses on the question of race on NBC, ABC & CNN.

Brother Mozell,

That you call me brother, I will be as honest as I can with you. I cannot tell my whole story, though I wish I could. But it involves another too close to me that I cannot tell all.

You say, thank God I do not have to endure these little tortures. But I have been tortured, trust. I have been as close to the black condition as is possible for one with a white skin. God, how I wish I could tell!

I will only say what implicates me. I was a crack head. My house was a crack house. My personal experience with racism is this: I am not now in jail, as so many of my black brothers are. Or as one of the d-boys, dead. For one reason only, I am white, therefore they did not come after me.

Now this does not explain the black condition in full, of course not, not by any means. Yet it is the personal experience that shapes me. And I will tell the full story to any that would like to know, but off-line, out of respect to that one who is dear to me.

Clark, I think you make an excellent point, and the President did well in handling it.

Irma I am not talking bad abour our president. I WANT him to address race head on but I know that it would be political suicide for him to do so. That is the point I was making.

I made no argument for the right at all. I have a problem with President Obama dancing around the issue of race even though I know whay he can't tackle it head on. Supporting Obama does not mean that we have to keep our opinions to ourselves and not voice them.

No George, it is not a shame our president should be talking about race...but it is a shame that the Jackson's and Sharptons and the NAACP, and you your own self are not on the main stream media talking about race. It is a shame that Carter a White man is the only one on TV talking about abuses for over 400 yeards and not you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a sham that from Back to a march on Washington demand ing that Mr. Obama gets out of that Whitehouse, dead or alive and you not saying any thing about the overn on the Fox news network!!!!???!

Lets get real, rush Limbaugh and Beck are doing a great job already showing how our president is doig such a lousy job until the last person needed is even one Black person saying a Amen to them!!!!!!

WAKE UP..our president can not get forced out with out our help as Geroge is doing!!!!!! But, George is not alone in this putting out blogs to aide and abet the right-wing cause and this is what makes me so, so, very, very sad and really *&%##@* fighting mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, the point I am talking about is our president DANCEC AROUND THE QUESTION...this is the same thing as he is so stupid, afraid...uninterested...has put himself above or this is not his concern,etc...there is no way to even put a 'positive' spin on this statement!!!!!

And, if you think me wrong please watch how the right-wing is going to make this into a positive spin, no a F-A-C-t for their side!!!!

And, one must try to understand how each time we see our president we are seeing someone who has risen above racism from his own flesh and blood (those of his own Christian faith)as someone with as much pride in the color of his skin that we all no matter the color of our skin who has faced some form of dislike, hate or being rejected for trying to be the best person we can be...then please take off those small mind blinders...as this will be best for this country and best for our being Black In America.(smile)

Well stated Mozell, so well said...I for one would not want to be in our president's postition of damned if he does and damned if he does't and still not blow up for short term pleaseure for a life time of pain.

Everything this man does is going to be blamed on the whole African-American/people called Blackas a negative ...and the positives will be just get put on the shelf and totally forgotten...400 years of behavior can not be all changed over night nor over these past 50 years...as Mozell just said,"Truth is...what it is".

THERE IS NO WAR IN DIALOGE...only the need and efforts to bring about peace and contentment by way of stepping into the shoes of the other...YES WE CAN...(smile)

Steve, again this is what racism is and actually why it is so hard to SEE, drugs or drug addiction or going to jail is someting that we because we have dark skin carry as a gene in our physical, mental make up. Now the way you just put your statement is racism and prejudice all rolled up in one...don't worry we are not angry...to us this is the social norm...but, you are trying to learn and this is good(I understand you are trying to put your self in a Black person's shoes, but then we do have some non drug addicts in our race(smile)...now go back to when I first said to you being black is an experience...and every thing that Mozell just said to you at first.

Now please go so far as to make a copy of this post. Put it away and take it our say 6 months from now and look at it. It will suprise you that you ever said what you just said...

This is learning and don't worry you are not alone. We learn something each and every day. Now please do as I asked and you will be better able to understand exactly what it is we are trying to get you to see.

but, the most important lesson to learn is we in our race are only one person...I am not O.J nor am I Oprah..I have never taken any hard drugs, but I have had a brother to die from a drug over dose. He had never spent one second in jail, but I have...do you understand what I am trying to say...We learn from our mistakes..seek and you will always find...

Steve, I am so grateful that you were able to break away from the drugs. I realize that breaking away from drugs is hard enough, but the only to stay off of them is to learn to stay away from toxic family and friends must be even harder to do.

Denial it even worst that thisin a sense. My step mother after all of these years is still in denial about my brother being on drugs even though drugs is what killed him. but, even worst his friends left him dead for three days before they called our family to tell use to go and get is body...FRIENDS...but, that is life and we all learn to be a little bit stronger. Again, congradulations as you had done something that has cheated the grim reaper...

Steve, I also understand what you are saying...this is why "I" believe I can not say this enough, "we have got to unlearn many, many things we have been taught". We must learn to dialoge, talk to each other and not about each other..racism, prejudice, etc. comes only from our tendancy to limit our education to our own ignorance by not trying to step into the other's shoes.

Sure, Steve you as a White person can be judged by the clothes you wear and be looked at as a their, but it will be because of the clothes and not be limited to being looked on as a criminal because of teh clolr of you skin...this is what I maen about being Black is an experience...we are judged by the skin color, we are hated by the skin color. example, a light skin Black is more educated, trust worthy/accepted, etc.

And, may I also repeat, how if our president had the skin color of his mother's and not his father, we would not be having this conversation now would we?(smile)

Our president is very well educated. He has been a neighborhood community leader. He has lived a whole life of more prejudice that I know I haveever been exposed to. The sentance I just made comes from not having even one member of my blood kin not been able to accept, love, respect me because I was not the right/socailly accepted skin color.

He has (to my knowledge)never nor will he ever give up his pride in being a decendant of the mother land, Africa. He has never fallen into the trap of you have to have a father in the house to become an asset to society.

And, all of those other things that have done such a great job in having us as African-Americans under the moral and legal acceptance as we are "less than"...WAKE UP...
