LANDSLIDE VICTORY FOR A NEW MAYOR HAD A SUPER FINISH!
HE'S SINGING A TUNE TO MAKE IT COOL.....
"ONE MEMPHIS!"
Memphis, Tennessee--October 15, 2009
At the Wharton Election Headquarters last night, October 15, 2009 the newly elected Mayor of Memphis, A.C. Wharton was cheered by hundreds as he made his victory speech. Wharton received approximately 60% of the vote which led him to a landslide winner! Still sticking with his campaign slogan "One Memphis" the new Mayor elect is committed to keeping his same style and working to making Memphis a united city of unity and togetherness. I met the Mayor when he was still Shelby County Mayor and he's most of the most influential men I've met in polictics. The election took off with Wharton's lead and then well there was no gaining grounds left for the the other canadiates to grab. Wharton dominated the voting which gave him the winning number of 65,491 votes. 25% of all who voted showed their support. Closing in but hardly catching up was Pro-Tem Mayor Myron Lowery with 19,625 followed by Carol Chumney's 10,857 and in last place Charles Carpenter at 5,181. The Mayor stated in his speech " Because of the voters, what was once a dream in now a reality!" The Mayor will be sworn into office on October 26, 2009.

Let's take a look at THAT read now.....I like that you're a little impatient read this new biz!
THAT MAKES THE SHELBY COUNTY MAYOR SEAT UP FOR HERS OR HIS?
Memphis, Tennessee --10.16.2009
Since Wharton will be moving from Shelby County to Memphis Mayor he'll leave that old seat open for grabs. What that'll lead to is public applicants can file to take on the Shelby County Mayor's seat. Until that time approaches a woman will be ProTem Shelby County Mayor. She's presently serving as A Shelby County Chairman, Joyce Avery. Given that her days as the Shelby County Mayor is limited, potential candiates are looking at that seat expediately! That look may include eyes of Joe Ford and J.W. Gibson II and Diedre Malone. It's not certain that Avery will run for the seat, but she'll make history of being the first woman interim Mayor of Shelby County. Avery is a republican and quoted as saying "As far as leadership goes, I have been on the County Commission for seven years.." More polictics are coming.

THE RIGHT TO VOTE
Blacks fought harder than any race I've known to earn the right to vote. You'd think that would make us registar and be first in lines at the voting polls. We can, but so many of us are not registered voters. We are full of first complaints when a politican makes and gives promises that are never met. Yet, the selection process is in voting. No, there aren't any guarantees that policticans will be ones to stand up for what they start out with. The governmental process is full of corruption already. Which could be the other side that less people of color vote.
Not all times; and not all blacks are complainers of course not! Look how we pulled together to vote in Barack Obama, yet the white voters outnumbered us almost 2 to 1. Shows that unity of races are vital and important. With that right to vote, we know at least we have truly earned it, this perhaps proves we can truly learn to use our right to vote. The other side is selection a person most qualified to do at least an honest job. I keep voting too, to stay in the right ways of righteousness, this I exercise daily.
