I was minding my own business. I did some laundry and was folding up clothes when the radio station played an oldie, but a goodie, Rob Bass's "It Takes Two." I remembered my NYC trip with friends. We dubbed it a "Best Friends Weekend". We hit the clubs, we drank champagne, and I danced on top of 20-foot-speakers with a crew of people I didn't know. I did have fun, but my body paid for it the next day. The backs of my hamstrings were sore and I need to sleep for two more days once I got back home to Upstate New York. We made two more of these trips: one to Chicago and one to California.
I was working on a piece and couldn't get that song out of my head. I had to laugh. Hadn't thought about that song in about 10 years. Now, my mind won't let it go. It's hard to finish my second novel, Win...Win, when I'm trying to create a loving, compassionate scene between my two main characters when Rob Bass's thumping bass line and mixing are stuck in my head. It's been stuck there for the last few days. I'm at the end of my novel, luckily.
I know this hasn't just happened to me. Do you have a song stuck in your head? I'm just glad it was a song I liked. There's nothing worse than having a silly song or stupid jingle stuck in your head.
