The Queen's Chair: If You're Happy And You Know It... (136 hits)

Clap your hands. Remember this childhood song?

I guess what I love about this song most is that it says joy doesn't come with a price tag. Neither does happiness. One thing I've learned you can have as much fun on the cheap as you can if you had a million dollars in your pocket. It shows that you have a song in your heart. A song that keeps your spirits up... no matter what.

My happiness quotient has gone up over the years. I learned a few tricks along the way. My circle of close friends has gotten smaller over the years. I'm now staying away from people who do nothing, but bring stress and drama to my front door. I'll even let those calls to voicemail. I'm staying away from red meat; I'm eating more fish and salad. I've given up soda. Calls from bill collectors and telemarketers are fading. And I find myself going to church more often and participating in "church family" events. However, the biggest change is that I'm doing more writing for me rather than an employer. It's nice not having people (that have no commamnd of the English) edit your words. I like expressing MY thoughts on paper on on-line.

Some people think this time of year, you have to be happy. I disagree. It implies if you're not happy now...then you can be miserable the rest of the year. I think this season is about love, family, and happiness. I think this time of year depresses people because for some it reminds them what they are lacking in their personal lives. For others, it could be things they wish they could change, but can't...whatever the reason.

Christmas is one of my favorite holidays because it is about love, hope, and taking time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives. I enjoy watching holiday specials with my children and hearing treasured holiday songs. For at least 35 days, I get a break from rap music.

There's a difference between having a song in your heart and singing a song. Everyone can't sing. If you do have a song in your heart, let it be known. So if your happy and you know it and you really want to show it. This is afterall the most wonderous time of the year!!!
