Do you do most of your reading online? (246 hits)

I read an article today (online, of course) that listed 10 industries that will experience diminishing demand. Print is one of those industries. Just as radio and television changed a lot of of informational industries years ago, the Internet is having a similar impact today.

Newspapers and magazines have already started to feel the change. Companies like Hallmark that started offering people the chance to send greeting cards online for a small fee (or who took on paid advertising at their websites) may very well find themselves ahead of similar companies who want to give it their all to remain successful using old formats.

This December Amazon.com was reported as selling more e-Books than print books (think the Amazon.com Kindle application). Considering Amazon.com is the Queen of online print book vendors, that is no small change or shift.

So, how about you? Have you shifted to reading most of the information that you take in over the Internet versus reaching for a print document? Or do you simply read more of your news online while you still read magazines in print form? Last, how do you think the Internet will cause print industries to shift even more?

One thing is certain. What is alive moves which, over time, can create a significant shift or change.

Happy Reading!

Continue to advance upwards!

Thanks, Denise.
The change in the publishing industry and the act of reading has been monumental. Print material is going the way of the rotary phone and the radio. Those who adapt to the new world will be successful. Those who cling to the old ways, well...they will find themsevles squeezed out. It is a revolution in literacy that is happening before our eyes!
