The Queen's Chair: RIP Teddy Pendergrass (166 hits)

We lost another great singer today. Singer Teddy Pendergrass died yesterday after a battle with cancer. He was only 59.

What hurts me most about this news...his potential. He was a strong man, tall with a dynamic voice. I loved his upbeat tempos. The slow songs were OK back then. When he came on the music scene I was a teenager who loved to dance and didn't like slow songs. Slow songs were an intermission for me.

The car accident that paralyzed him in 1982, pretty much put his career on the back burner. That was a shame. He just never really rebounded back into the spotlight after that.

He had so many memorable songs: Get Up, Get Down, Get Funky, Get Loose; Come On And Go With Me, Love TKO, Close The Door. So many memories. I'm trying to get over the loss of Luther Vandross and Michael Jackson. Sigh... Rest in Peace, Teddy. They don't make singers like you anymore. Thank you for those wonderful memories.

Absolutely agree with you that the record companies don't produce singers like the Late Teddy Bear! I will miss him dearly. See the blog I did on him with one of his songs When Somone Loves You
