I was hopeful that this 2010 would be a year of renewal for me and my family here in San Jose California. My beautiful 18 year old daughter Haley started her first semester in Criminal justice here at a local University.
Unfortunately for her the very system that she has chosen as her profession has already turned its back on her.
This past Thursday January 14th , my daughter went to the local mall here in San Jose California with her girlfriends. On her way out of the mall a Caucasian lady whom my daughter had never seen before called her the N word. At first my daughter ignored her and continued walking. The lady continued to call my daughter names and followed her to the bus stop, while increasing in volume and yelling the N word to my daughter and her friends.
My daughter is only 5 ft 3 120 pounds. She has no record and may I remind you she is a frshman and a criminal Justice Major.
The lady got in my daughters face and yelled the N word once more.my daughter slapped her and her anger grew and she hit the lady in the face. The lady fell to the ground. You know what's next...
Scenario white side of town white lady fallen to the ground black person in site a upon arrival arrest first ask questions later. or maybe never ...
The police hand cuffed my daughter and I haven't seen her since she left for the mall thursdayevening after school.
She has called me crying every day from the holing cell and they set her bail at 85,000 and her court date is Thursday. They placed her in a womens jail and I can't se her until they have checked my background?
What about the lady that called my daughter names and started everything?
The San Jose Police said quote "oh she was expressing her freedom of speech racial slurs aren't hate crimes" .
Can you believe this?
I can't afford 85,000 bail what do I do? Where and how and who do you contact to get this racist San Jose department of Justice to let my daughter go for protecting herself?
I am also going through my lender raising my mortgage so i can't put my house up to post bail for her since my mortgage acan't get modified and my payments doubled.. So much for 2010. Here is a picture this past summer of my daughters graduation.
