A new professional basketball league boasting rosters made up exclusively of white Americans has its eyes set on 12 southern cities. "Only players that are natural born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league," read a press release from the All-American Basketball Alliance. [Don "Moose" Lewis, the commissioner of the AABA, said the reasoning behind the league's roster restrictions is not racism. "There's nothing hatred about what we're doing," he said. "I don't hate anyone of color. But people of white, American-born citizens are in the minority now. Here's a league for white players to play fundamental basketball, which they like."
Lewis said he wants to emphasize fundamental basketball instead of "street-ball" played by "people of color." He pointed out recent incidents in the NBA, including Gilbert Arenas' indefinite suspension after bringing guns into the Washington Wizards locker room, as examples of fans' dissatisfaction with the way current professional sports are run.]

I understand MLK but I don't see what the big deal for someone wanting to have White American league for whites only unless it's for the sole purpose of discrimination and promoting White Supremacy.... then that would be something else different, but according to Lewis it is none of that.

In spite of the commissioner of the AABA's explanation, the underlying sentiment (can be construed as) is white supremacy...we were and still are considered a minority in this country. Is it our fault that "white men can't jump?"
I would consider the explanation to be in fun, however, there are those that do not...on both sides of the fence and at both ends as well!

OKay--so we now have this white American-born league who play straight-up fundamental basketball. So what happens when the second Pete Maravich shows up with his floppy socks and magic dribble who can shoot from any angle on any spot on the floor without even looking?
Or how about another Jayson Williams (in his young days when he was wild) who could flip Magic Johnson passes behind his back and through defenders fingers, curving the around opponents hands to bounce straight to open teammates. (OK, sometimes he threw them into the stands--but he looked cool doing it.)
It sounds to me like these guys just don't want to play with black players.
I agree with Clark. Any player who believes he is a good player would want to play with the best and "not with a bunch of clowns trying to make a political statement in sports."
It's a joke and they should be laughed at and ridiculed off the stage. I call it more of a training wheels league.

SUBJECTIVELY, we can have it both ways...this all White team and Dr. King's being in total disagreement with this and all that White only represents....
LEGALLY we must have either the law of Jim Crow or that of Brown v Board of Education...
"I" STAND WITH DR. KING AND AGAINST SEPARATE IS EQUAL.(smile)
and, the best example I have to offer as proof is either Palin in 2012 or Obama in 2012.........we in America can only have one president just as we can only have one law on the books on this matter...
