POLL: MOST AMERICANS THINK SARAH PALIN IS UNQUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT, Huffington Post, Feb. 11, 2010 (607 hits)

THE SPOTLIGHT HAS BEEN BRIGHT BUT NOT NECESSARIILY KIND TO FORMER VICE-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE SARAH PALIN.

According to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll, 71% of Americans do not feel that Palin is qualified to be President. That includes a sharp drop in Republican support, where 45% believe she is qualified compared to 66% who thought she was last fall.

Overall, 37% have a favorable view while 55% have an unfavorable view of the former Alaska Governor.

Palin has been able to count on support from the Tea Party, but the Washington Post indicates that the movement itself has split favorability and is poorly understood.

Nearly two-thirds of those polled say they know just some, very little or nothing about what the tea party movement stands for. About one in eight says they know "a great deal" about the positions of tea party groups, but the lack of information does not erase the appeal: About 45 percent of all Americans say they agree at least somewhat with tea partiers on issues, including majorities of Republicans and independents.

The movement's supporters were identified as, "overwhelmingly white, mostly conservative and generally disapproving of Obama."

Dear Irma:

This one's for you!

The key stat: she lost 2 out of 5 REPUBLICANS since last fall!

She reminds me of the 9/11 Master and All-Around TErrorism expert Rudy Giuliani who came up with the brilliant plan to put New York City's HIgh TEch Disaster Control Center IN the World Trade Center.

He ran for President and the more people saw him and heard him, the less they liked him because they figured out that he was full of it.

Same with Sarah Baracuda. Chris Matthews called her a "Balloon Head!" He's right.

Sarah Palin would be just more qualified than Pres Obama. After all, she has run the State of Alaska as Governor. Then, she has more pull "appeal" then any other Republican and my opinion is that she could pull some democrats and women voters who may think that a woman in the White house can do no worse than all of the Men that has been in there. This topic is off my beaten path, but Sarah Palin is a hot ticket and democrats better watch out if she decides to run. Only Hillary Clinton would have a chance to beat her perhaps.

Thanks, Clark. I didn't want to be the one to break the bad news to the guy.

There is no empirical evidence to support his position. If every single voter who gave Palin a positive rating vcame out and voted for her, she would be buried in the greatest landslide defeat in history!

First let me stop laughing....

OK...Say the News channel live and Romney, Huckabee and Sarah Palin were on seperate corners of the room....where would the camera's go....I rest my case.

You don't have to be the smartest to be president.

Right! As George W. Bush proved for eight years.

True, Sarah Palin has the talent and ability to get 100% of the cameras, 100% of the time.

But...in order to be elected President, you need more than 37% of the votes.
Her favorable ratings won't get it done for her.

Granted Richard, but she has between now and 2012. Plus, in every state in the United States, women outnumber men over the age of 18. Not to mention, the number of men that will vote for her just because she is cute (did I say that) and quick with the one-liners. Any republican or democrat that thinks that Sarah Palin is not a threat is blind.

Exactly right, Mozell.

For her entire public career, going back to when she was Mayor of Wasilla, the Meth capital of Alaska, she has made enemies of former friends and disillusioned former allies. The longer she remains in the spotlight, the more she opens her mouth, the more people see, as Chris Matthews pointed out, that she has nothing going on inside.

She will always have a loud and boisterous following. They will be almost all white. And she will be able to exert her influence among power brokers who want the votes of those angry white folks.

She has a brilliant future as a TV commentator where she can spout off her opinions all day and nobody will challenge her.

But I think you are right--she's done as an elected official.

Good Point, Mozell....though lets face it...ALL politicians are guilty of lying one way or the other. Pres Obama said that he would shut down Guantanamo Bay...whats up...first pres Bush said read my lips, no taxes..2nd bush said he would catch Bin Laden, dead or alive. If Palin can galvanize the womens movement, disgruntled democrats, republican that want to win next election..and young student population...she may have a chance.

I saw an interview with Howard Fineman, the Political Editor of Newsweek Magazine. He is a professsonal, as informed as they come.

He said that the political strategists in the Republican party are terrified of Palin. They want her supporters--and they do not want to do or say antything to offend them--but they know that she is bad news for the party.

One Republican strategist who he did not name told him that as he watched Palin's interview--the one where she sneaked peeks at the notes scribbled on her hand--he felt like he was losing IQ points just by watching her interview.

And he is a Republican professional political strategist!!!

Clark, let me the first to say politics is NOT my expertise. Only that have been watching trends. Every since America elected Ronald Reagon, a unconvential yet good orator, quick with the one-liners...it seems Americans have been voting in new trend setters. With the exception of Bush who cheated his way in by way of Florida. But Reagon, Clinton and now Obama a African American. The only type that has not been elected to the Oval office is a female. Assuming Pres Obama approval ratings continue to plummet, America may sublimally decide to vote in sometype that has NEVER been elected. That is a Woman. Assuming she does start to read more books and gets more savvy...she could be a wildcard to take the Republican nomination. As for me my agenda is more PanAfricanism so don't invest much time into American politics other than wanting to stay abreast of whats happening at the homefront. NO....my vote will not go to Sarah Palin.

Seems to me that Palin's attracts a lot of people who nosey around in her private life. I think that's that percentage that has her favor. Personally, if she ran for president she's the least likely I would consider voting for even if I thought the other running canditate was worse. Then again.... Obvisously, she did conduct a position of Govenor of Alaska so I feel she may have some conduct of polictal experience. I'd base a vote on solely her leadership skills there. I think she's over exploited by a long shot!

Irma, The black race has benefited with Barack Obama as president. He very intelligent and looks black. That is about he sum of it. Other than that....He can do nothing for he Black people in America. This is a white country ruled by the white congress consisting of a majority of white senators and white representatives. Having a black president has not changed the nations capital to the "Black House". NO ...NO Way....The only way Black Americans can significantly be improved is with land of their own they is ruled by them and governed by them. Other than that it is window dressing.

What is good about Sarah Palin....it upsets the white MEN...that a white women is qualified, cute, fearless, experienced, has appeal and tells these white men off. And if these white men are not careful...she could be president.

Yes, Irma--I saw it.

And I also saw the recent poll that shows 52% of REPUBLICANS think she is unqualified to be President.

Politico did a recent piece analyzing the mainstream press response to her. Their conclusion: she increases their sales and their clicks. They gravitate to her. BUT she's not going anywhere poltiically.

She certainly will be a power in politics--but for someone else, not for her.

Sarah Palin is a joke. She's right up there with Pat Robertson, John Mayor, and Rush Limbaugh. She has such arrogance but that is not going to make a difference when she loses the election in 2010.

John McCain is real old, tired and worn out, that was why he chose Palin as his VP pick, so as to add energy to his campaign. This is also the reason why he didn't want to debate with Obama during the campaign, because even though he's a capable politician, a debater, I think his heart was never in the process.

JUST SO YOU KNOW, I AM NOT READING MY NOTES FROM THE PALM OF MY HAND (LOL)

Siebra:

Cute! That junior high school move will follow her wherever she goes.

I saw one political commentator who, when she was asked about it, claimed that it was okay because she does the same thing to prepare for interviews.

Then she lifted up her palms to show what she had written.

One one hand, she wrote: "ASS".

On the other hand she wrote: "ELBOW".

I guess she wanted to show that some people need help to figure out the difference.

Cute...

"Thanks Rich and thank you Clark...

NOw, here is where those like Palin can fool as many people as possible who allow others to make up their minds for them...the say way that dealing with personal emotions is never something one can depend on for survival...

Palin is only great on networks like FOX for a short time...now taht she is being compared to Rush and Back as a TeaParty leader she is loosing the support of the major conservative media led so far by the best known racist voices in conservative talk media...NOT GOOD, not good at all for Palin...

Palin's steady dound fall even "I" could see it coming, because FOX nor Rush liked John McCain, because he refused to go along with Bush's mentality 100%. She should have never gone to support McCain in his fight to keep his seat in the Senate, for this reason...but, Palin is only interested in getting media coverage when all she had to do was just face it she is not good appearing before any media camera even on friendly media news interviews...

BUT, ENOTIONS AND LOGIC WILL NEVER MIX NO MATTER HOW WE TRY TO GET THEM TO DO SO.(smile)

And, again thanks Richard as I am less worried about race riots now than I was before...this is going to be a Conservative vs ultra Conservatives fight this election year and this is good for the Black community(smile) dispite knowing aht they have already talked some Black people to go near our president with an assault rifle and go get assaulted at one of their Tea party events on Health care who they dropped when learning he had no health care insurance ad they sure were n ot going to pay for his emergancy room fee...notice how that died in the mass media right away as proof of how violent we Blacks are. LOOOOOOLThat first comment of Jamal's is what reminded me of this being able to get us to do harm to our ownself and our community as living proof of how useless we all are in trying to build a constructive society....

I HAVE JUST GOT TO SAY THIS..JAMAL IS JUST TRYING TO FARTHER PROVE THAT THE BLACK COMMUNITY FROM OUR CHURCHES TO OUR FAITHS EVEN BEING MUSLIMS(AS I GATHER HE IS)SITLL MAKES US UNWORTHY TO EVEN EXIST.(smile)

I remember Minister Farrakhan saying they only become envolved in politics ,"At the right times". ?And, I have never ever heard him put the whole of our race down on a regular basis, not even robert does this.(smile)but, I chant(pray) that Jamal does not back Palin in her trying to get her people to get our president out of office, RIGHT NOW AND NOT IN 2012...but, who knows when it comes to haters of the African-American community and their moral / legal values...

Hay Rich, did you see (you know whose program) showing that article about how even the Tea Party is now rejecting Palin as not fit to be representing them any longer, because only going to the highest bidder therefore has no loyalty...

It may have a lot to do with how she may have lied about giving that money to the 'cause' as promised and kept it for herself.(smile)

ps.
to those on planet Stuck On Stupid, the last thing any decent female of any race, creed or color wants representing her FEMALE SPECIES is someone being called a lousy CALL GIRL.(smile)much less being for sell to the highest bidder, UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...WAKE UP.LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

I do feel sorry for you or for anyone who is an adult and had nothing of their very own materially or socailly status wise in the community until Jan. 21.09...but, then this is also not my problem(smile)
