I've been off this site for a few weeks. There's a good reason why. I recently completed my latest and second literary installment, Win-Win, a story about love in the world of semi-professional football.
Widowed and s*xy, filmmaker Madison has put her life on hold when it comes to romance. Her best friend Jaymz, a film critic, who has an opinion about everything, tries to help jumpstart it anyway he can. A chance meeting between Madison and Sterling, a former NFL player who can’t get this beauty out of his mind, leads to them reconnecting as friends and possibly more. If only Madison will let him into her heart. For Sterling, he may finally get the woman of his dreams, if he can let go of a grudge he’s been carrying around for years.
As the Hives head coach, Sterling has the chance to have the team win back-to-back national championships. He tries really hard to keep his cool when it comes to Madison, but keeping his true feelings for her under wraps sometimes meets with hilarious and painful results. When offered a chance of a lifetime opportunity, Sterling isn’t sure what he’ll do.
Hunter, Sterling’s brother, is the Hive football team’s star quarterback. He has been married to his wife, Renee for more than 10 years. Hunter doesn’t want to acknowledge the fact that his marriage is on the rocks. On the other hand, Renee knows something is wrong. She is suspicious of his strange behavior and callers who hang up when she answers. Renee wants Hunter to “grow up” and “give up his dreams” of playing professional football. She would like to start a family and wants Hunter to give up the semi-professional world of Hive football. Hunter has other thoughts when he has the chance to break several football records and professional scouts will get the chance to see him play.
After a series of personal tragedies, each character has a decision to make. What will they do for love? Will Madison let go of the past and open up her heart to love again? Will Renee stay in a sinking and loveless relationship? Is Hunter able to salvage his marriage and keep his secret? If it gets out, will it ruin his career? Will Sterling just end up as Madison’s friend? Will sparks fly between them?
Win-Win answers all these questions and takes a whimsical look at what people will do for love, how lost love can make us stronger, and why it takes two people to hold onto it.
