In today's digest of the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation, a webinar is announced about Using Income Tax Information to Strengthen Medicaid and CHIP Outreach Webinar on February 24 to Provide Instruction and Insight into Targeted Public Program Efforts.
As part of an effort to increase enrollment in Medicaid and CHIP, several states are using state income tax data to better target potentially eligible children and families. On February 24, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation sponsored State Health Access Reform Evaluation (SHARE) program will hold a webinar focusing on these initiatives, including the first available findings on the implementation and impact of Maryland's tax-based outreach program.
SHARE grantee David Idala will discuss Maryland's strategy for targeting public program enrollment efforts. David is Director of Medicaid Policy Studies at The Hilltop Institute at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Among other subjects, he will review data collection, outreach strategies, and the impact that outreach efforts have had on enrollment. In addition, Brenda Freshour-Johnston, Outreach Coordinator at the Iowa Department of Human Services, will discuss Iowa's experience with this strategy in targeting outreach for its CHIP coverage. The event is part of SHARE’s Great Research Conversations series and will be moderated by SHARE Director Lynn Blewett.
