Just read most of the blogs/comments about the Black church and its effects in the Black community. While I certainly agree with most of Jamaal's rationale, to take it a step further, I just returned from IHOP after playing tennis this Sunday morning. There I noticed a trend. Every person dressed in church clothing was Black. Let me re-type that slowly ... EVERY PERSON DRESSED IN CHURCH CLOTHING WAS BLACK. What does that have to say or do with this topic?
I have constant conversations with many folks and the one thing that saddens me the most is how gullible Blacks are, believe without questioning. MOST Whites don't believe b/c it's in the Hole-y Bible. And they gave it to you. But intelligent, free thinkers realize that a collection of books that were written before we had the technology and evolution of advancement to verify such unbelievable claims must not be taken too seriously. It's stupidly arrogant to believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say that non-believers are the ones that need help?
Jamaal at least has some REAL answers to the ills of the Black community, but everyone attacked the brother for presenting them. Forums like these are great but also too often reveal our level of gullibility and/or ignorance.
It's 2010. Our Black neighborhoods look like it's still 1974. Which is why Jamaal had to leave so his 'stuff' wouldn't get taken. LOL
